EXTRACTION AFTER CARE


DO NOT SMOKE FOR THE NEXT SEVEN (7) DAYS.

DO NOT USE A STRAW WHEN DRINKING.

DO NOT RINSE YOUR MOUTH TODAY.
Tomorrow rinse your mouth gently ever 3 to 4 hours (especially after meals) using one (1) teaspoon of salt to a glass of water. Repeat if necessary.

Bleeding:

        Following extractions, some bleeding is expected. If persistant bleeding occurs, place gauze pads over bleeding area and bite down firmly for thirty (30) minutes. Repeat if necessary.

Swelling:

        Some swelling may be noticed. Do not be alarmed by this normal reaction. Place an ice bag over the operated area --- thirty (30) minutes on and thirty (30) minutes off for the next 4 to 5 hours.

Bony Edges:

        Small sharp bone fragments may work up through the gums during healing. They are not roots. If its annoying, return to this office for a simple removal.

Pain:

        Some discomfort may be experienced following oral surgical procedures. For mild to average pain use any non-aspirin type of medication. Repeat as necessary.

Eating:

        Salty food is desirable. Avoid very hot, cold or spicy liquids. Avoid getting food particles into the empty space.
